# 1994 Reorganization Act
*Minnesota law concerning the Metropolitan Council*
The **1994 Reorganization Act** is a Minnesota law that, according to the project's merged master history, extended to the whole [[Metropolitan Council (Minnesota)]] a governance design already written into the 1967 founding text of the [[Department of Human Rights]].[^1]
That design dates to May 25, 1967. On that day Governor LeVander approved two session laws: Laws 1967 ch. 896, which created the Metropolitan Council as a regional government with a tax levy and members appointed by the governor rather than elected, and ch. 897, which created the Department of Human Rights.[^1] The master history describes the department as the enforcement agency through which the modern federal actions run. It reports that both chapters were checked word for word against the session-law PDFs.[^1]
The record assembled here does not establish the 1994 Act's chapter number, enactment date, sponsors, vote, or text, and it does not show which officials or parties enacted it.[^1]
