# H. H. Chesterman
*American politician; briefly Minnesota Secretary of State, July–September 1952*
H. H. Chesterman was an American politician and the 15th Secretary of State of [[Minnesota]]. He held the office for about two months in 1952, from July to September.[^1]
Before his appointment, Chesterman was Assistant Secretary of State to the incumbent, [[Mike Holm]]. After Holm died, Governor Elmer Anderson named Chesterman to the vacant office in July 1952.[^1]
In September 1952, Anderson removed Chesterman from the post and named Holm's widow, [[Virginia Paul Holm]], in his place. That appointment came as public opinion increasingly favored her taking her late husband's office. The record does not establish any reason for the change beyond that sentiment.[^1]
