# Pierce County, Minnesota
*Former county in Minnesota (1853–1855)*
Pierce County was a county of [[Minnesota]] that existed from 1853 to 1855.[^1] The Wikipedia article on the county gives March 5, 1853, as its date of creation and states that it was formed out of Dakota County.[^1] In 1855 the county ceased to exist, and its land was divided among Big Sioux, Davis and Renville Counties.[^1]
At its creation, the [[Minnesota River]] formed the county's western and southern border, and Nicollet County lay along its eastern side.[^1] The north fork of the Crow River marked its northern limit, and Pembina County lay to its northwest.[^1] The sources assembled for this article do not include the act that created the county or the act that dissolved it. The dates and boundaries above rest on the Wikipedia article alone.[^1]
