# Engineering Center of Excellence
Minnesota State University, Mankato — **engineering education and pathways**. One of the eight Minnesota State Centers of Excellence, run through both spines: [[PORTAL_Acoustics]] and [[PORTAL_WT!Thury_Hydrodynamics_Compendium]], indexed by [[PORTAL_Centers_of_Excellence]].
## Acoustics
Structures ring: modal analysis and resonance are how engineers hear a design before it fails.
### Microsims — three.js first
<!-- MICROSIM:PENDING_DEPLOY:BEGIN v1.7 g08 — embed target is not on the CDN; restore with g08 --undeploy-clear -->
<p class="wt-pending"><strong>Microsim staged, not yet on the CDN.</strong> <code>S_wave.html</code> is built and deploy-ready in <code>Microsims for Dissemination/</code>, but the Netlify project still serves the geometry+spintronics set only. The player is disabled until the deploy lands; the explanatory text below is unchanged.</p>

**`S_wave` (three.js).** A shear wave crossing a 3-D lattice — the displacement field every structural mode is built from.
### Microsims — p5.js
<iframe src="https://editor.p5js.org/sciencenibber/full/90jeLsBsW" width="100%" height="480" frameborder="0" loading="lazy" sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin"></iframe>
**Acoustic wave (p5.js).** Radial pressure wavefronts from a point source; scrub frequency and medium (air/water/steel), watch λ contract to keep c = f·λ, and hear the tone. (Audio room gallery, 21 shipped.)
## Hydrodynamics
Fluids constrain every design: lift, drag, head loss, and the dimensionless numbers that scale a prototype to a plant.

**`Hydrodynamics` (three.js).** The steerable 3-D flow field: pressure and velocity coupled, the design space itself.
